Winter Preseason Contact Information
Dear Sanford Families,
I would like to begin by congratulating our cross country and boys' soccer teams for qualifying for the postseason state tournaments. As the regular DIAA fall season has officially come to a close, many of our student-athletes have been busy preparing for the winter season. We look forward to carrying our fall successes to the courts, mats, track, and pool this winter. The first day of winter season practice for all Middle and Upper school sports begins Monday, November 11.
Our upper school winter season athletic parent meetings will take place on different days to accommodate our many teams' practice schedules. Coaches will email you with the date/time for each program meeting. We encourage each student to have at least one parent/guardian in attendance to ensure a clear understanding of rules and regulations. It is also a time to have any questions you may have answered.
Next, each athlete who did not participate in a fall sport must have an up-to-date DIAA Pre-Preparticipation Physical. We understand coordinating doctor’s appointments with insurance timelines and restrictions can be challenging. Unfortunately, we cannot allow student-athletes to practice before the required forms are uploaded directly to Magnus Health. Please upload the forms here:

If you have had a physical within the last 15 months you may take the Athletic Physical form for this upcoming year (2024-2025 school year) to your physician and get it resigned until your next appointment. Athletic physical forms for the school year 2024-2025 must be dated after April 1st, 2024. You will then download the forms on the Magnus Health SMR website and the directions for this will be provided. You must have this done by August 12th, 2024 for individuals to participate in Preseason. Please note that the DIAA physical forms must be used. 2024-25 Athletic Physical and Consent Forms Packet
Once completed the forms should be downloaded to Magnus Health.

Tuesday, August 13th, we will have our fall parent meeting with the upper school coaches in the Geipel Auditorium starting at 6:00 pm (6:00-7:00). This night is set up for you to meet the upper school coaching staff.

Athletic Department Update
Welcome Sanford families to the 2022-23 school year. I ask that you take a moment to sign up for the scheduling alerts. This will allow your family to receive notifications as in real time from the athletic department.The warrior-sports.com website will allow you as a family to organize your student’s schedule throughout the fall, winter and spring.
Preseason is heading into week 3 and I would like to take an opportunity to thank the coaches for all their hard work and dedication to their programs. I would also like to thank the operations department for maintaining our fields… absolutely the best. Our focus as in years past will be on sportsmanship. We appreciate everyone’s passion and competitive spirit and want to make sure all our athletes, coaches and fans represent the best of Sanford on the field and on the sidelines. Our fall captains attended a leadership retreat in conjunction with Wilmington Friends this past Thursday that focused on the qualities of being a “leader”. We examined and discussed the role captains play not only for their sport but for Sanford as a whole.
We look forward to seeing everyone on the fields, courts and trails this fall. Go warriors!!!

*** We will have all teams meet in the Sports Center at 8:30 AM on 8/15… opportunity to welcome everyone to the 2022 Fall Season. We are inviting parents to join us during this 30 minutes to hear the athletic conversation regarding the 2022 fall season.
